Sometimes it can be difficult to find new podfics, you *want* to try something new but it can be hard to know where to start.

Post a comment with a rec to a podfic you love and think is under-rated, check out other people's recs, try one you haven't listened to and leave feedback. Easy! Maybe the podfic you rec will even be one you discovered during the challenge!

Listen to a podfic rec'd in the comments and leave feedback for the reader, earn 10 points for each piece of feedback you leave

I rec for you all THE CREEPY CAVE read by [personal profile] shiningartifact

I think I've listened to this podfic about 30 times!! It's a quick listen, coming in at under 30 minutes. Shiningartifact's voice is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. She speaks with this mellow sultry tonality that draws you right in. I think her voice is the definition of sexy. I dare you not to like it. Hands down, this one of the best podfics I've ever heard.

I'm not sure if this qualifies as underrated, but it's one that everyone to listen to at some point in their life. :)

This is another one from [personal profile] sklee.

Time for a Change

(I checked but I didn't see this posted on AO3.)

I think you could probably listen without canon knowledge? Besides the pairing listed, it's very much Janeway-centric ensemble (comfort) fic.

[personal profile] sklee's voice is so intimate, you really feel like you're inside Janeway's thoughts when you're listening.

Falling Down with a Pure Heart

I am ~living proof you can enjoy this without knowing anything about canon.

[livejournal.com profile] candle_beck's voice and performance style make you feel right like you are inside the world of the story. I literally listened to this three times the first week I downloaded it and I don't think it's left my phone since.

Stars Fade Into Day

[personal profile] swiiftly gives such a wonderfully intimate and nuanced reading here, it made me instantly fall in love with both Steve and Bucky, despite having had no knowledge of their canon when I first heard this. It's just lovely, *lovely*, and I have always wished that it made more of a splash when it was first posted, so. It seemed like an excellent fit for this challenge :)

The Sign of Change & Cauldron: A Love Letter read by [archiveofourown.org profile] liannabob

Why should you listen? Because Liannabob + Katie Forsythe = PERFECTION

Seriously, this reading of the Hope 'Verse stories is simply exquisite. I love angsty stories and Liannabob delivers all the emotion without ever going over the top.

When I told Liannabob how much I enjoyed this podfic, I got the impression that she hasn't had a lot of feedback on it, which is a damned shame. But even if my impression was wrong, more feedback is never a bad thing :)

So go listen and give some love: mp3 | m4b

\o/ But if you haven't listened to Cauldron yet, I highly recommend that you do. Heals the hurt, it does.

And may I take this opportunity to say I have much love for your own wonderful contributions to the Katie Forsythe Podfic Collection? That Which Gives Extras in particular is also dear to my heart xoxo

Well, I'm saving Cauldron up--I tend to do that with things I look forward to.

And thank you! I do love recording 19th-century-style Sherlock Holmes fics. : )

Five Days in Toronto

[archiveofourown.org profile] madecunningly creates a sense of character brilliantly. Carey and PK play off each other in a really dynamic way and their relationship is a lot of fun. I think Carey and PK are a truly lovely, but underrated pairing, and this podfic captures their dynamic so well. The overall tone is adorable and understated, which makes for a truly enjoyable podfic.

Holmesian Podfic: Three Mystrade Podfics

I found this one on AO3 during my 1st comment quest. I don't listen to much sherlock podfic and had never listened to Mycoft/Lestrade before. I was so impressed with
Random_Nexus character voices I went on a reading rampage through the archive.

It is a nice piece of work. Plus you get 3 works for one download. So Bonus!

You definitely don't need canon knowledge for this one (I still don't have any). This is a really sweet college AU and [livejournal.com profile] exmanhater really captures the atmosphere of the fic in her performance.

People Who Repair Quantums

Even though this is a short Star Trek reboot/Dune/Alien/Discworld/Star Wars/Doctor Who crossover, I don't believe you need to be familiar with all of the fandoms. If you know Star Trek, it should be enough. It's written by ignipes and read by reena_jenkins, who manages to swing from sly humor all the way through an aching melancholy in these vignettes. I absolutely love her Chekov - he's dead-on brilliant.

You Can Sit Beside Me (When the World Comes Down) (http://archiveofourown.org/works/394054) by Jenepod

Okay, so this one is a long podfic, around 5 hrs and 40 minutes long. That being said, it is so absolutely fantastic you just want it to keep going! It's part one of the Rugby verse, a high school au where Spencer is a rugby star and popular kid, best friends with bitchy artsy Ryan, with a secret crush on dorky Brendon. It also features Ryan/Jon, with secret admirer/stalker Jon, and just total hilariousness. Super well read, awesome characters, fantastic writing, and overall really awesome podfic, I would definitely recommend it.

I think this might be one of the first podfics of exmanhater's I ever listened to, and she's become one of my favorite podfic artists ever since then. Her voice is like a cool drink of water on a hot day. Even if you aren't familiar with these characters, I'd still recommend listening to this, because it's an absolutely charming story. <3
