Mini Challenge 2 AKA It's Sunday!

The amplificathon challenge is running at the moment. Do you take chances with your podfic listening or do you like to stay inside the safety of ‘your’ fandoms? Just imagine what you could be missing!

Try a podfic from a fandom or pairing or even just a reader that you haven't tried before. And then let the podficcer know what you thought!


Successfully completing this challenge will earn you 5 points for each piece of feedback you leave, up to a maximum of 20 points (ie 4 pieces of feedback)

Don't forget to log your points for Week 1 in the post here! The next Points Post will be up next Saturday, so keep a record of this weeks efforts too:)

It won't actually be helpful for me, but if I get it done quick enough it may be helpful for others who want to complete this challenge.

NOW I'M EVEN MOAR INTRIGUED. Are you doing a list of new podficcers or something?

That's a really good idea. Sorry, I'm doing a small(ish) rec post that's turning into a rec post of 'If you only listen to one podfic in the fandom listen to ...", so far it's got Sherlock, Harry Potter, Inception, Supernatural, XMFC, NCIS, Merlin, Major League Baseball, American Idol and a few others that are really cheats because the fandom doesn't have much podfic - The Social Network, The Eagle, Dresden Files, Avengers. It's really hard in some cases to narrow it down to one, so most are ending up with two. :D

People are so surprised during amplificathon when I tell them that their podfic has encouraged me to go check out the source material or the fandom more. It's probably the only time of the year when I really *do* take a chance on unknown fandoms.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Podfic is always the best way to get me into fandoms, sometimes the source material too. I got into both Bandom and The Social Network by listening to podfic and knowing NOTHING about the fandom or source material :D

"twist", I am intrigued! I really like my idea, but it turns out I have LOTS of feelings about podfics in fandoms I don't generally care about, e.g. picking just ONE Merlin podfic is turning out to be impossible.

Oh yes, I should try that. (I'm not very courageous in trying out new readers. Fandom or pairing is less a problem, but I really could try out more readers.)

I've listened to a bunch of new people this year, it's fun!

I don't doubt it! It's just, ironically enough, I'm not very good at information input through audio only, I'm such a visual (well, reading) type there, that I cling to the readers that really work for me and have to overcome a barrier for every new reader. But, amplificathon has lots of short stuff which should be ideal for trying out new things!

And the streaming option so many readers are starting to use makes sampling their work so fast and easy!
