Generation Kill: Brad Colbert/Ray Person

I have heaps of recs (can we do more than one? If so, I'll be back tomorrow with more, but here's one to get started....)

We can take it easy if you want me to by Takola. 00:38:36. Explicit.

Summary: Four days and two phone calls later, Ray is at Recon for an audition. Nate had called it a screen test, like hiring Ray was a done deal. But Ray knows that no matter what Nate thinks, Brad still needs to be convinced. Porn star AU!

Rec: Flaming hot and full of feels!!!! Mind the warnings, but this is pretty much a heap of feelings masquerading as smoking hot sex. And Takola does and awesome awesome awesome job with the performance. Seriously, I can't even... I'm not even in this fandom, and I've never seen Gen Kill, but her reading just hits me in ALL the right spots.

What [personal profile] fire_juggler said. So, can we do more than one rec?

Get my Story Straight by Dr_Fumbles_McStupid. 5:12. Hunger Games.

Summary: Haymitch welcomes and dreads his first Reaping.

Rec: I'll admit that it was the tag for trans character that made me curious about this podfic in the first place. I liked the different kind of glimpse of Haymitch's character that the story offers. And the reader does a brilliant job.

Okay, so I've got two recs.

This Dream Called Life, read by chestnut_filly, 33:50
Inception, Eames/OFC, Arthur/Eames
Summary: "There is always a certain beauty in ruins."

Rec: Don't be put off by the original character. Without giving too much away, this is a fantastic story and chestnut_filly's reading is spot on.

By The Pale Moonlight, read by skyunicorn, 18:00
Batman, Joker/Harleen Quinzel
Summary: A man named Jack meets a boy named Tim under the pale moonlight.

Rec: I'm only kind of tangentially in DCU fandom so I can confirm you don't need a great deal of fandom knowledge to enjoy this one. Skyunicorn's voices are fantastic, and it's well worth a listen purely for that.

Two for now:

1.
Ambergris
by Cerberusia and read by sisi_rambles.
00:08:25, streaming available.
Harry Potter, paring of one-sided James/Remus.

I thought I could care less about this pairing, but I enjoy sisi_rambles' podic so I thought I would check this out anyway. I'm so glad I did. The writing is gorgeous and sisi_rambles reads with such sensitivity that I now might ship it a little bit, dammit.

2.
Blow Me Bluebell Bubbles by chaletian and read by klb.
00:02:04, streaming available.
Harry Potter, gen (Alice Longbottom)

This is a really powerful story and klb hits it out of the park. Goosebumps.

P.S. I WAS HOPING THIS CHALLENGE WOULD BE BACK.

Okay, two more before I forget to come back. These are a bit longer but they're both incredibly fun and don't require canon knowledge.

1.
Say It With Flowers
by hazel and read by rhea314 (Rhea)
00:47:33 no music, 00.49:56 w/music
Hockey RPF, Jonthan Toews/Patrick Kane

Summary: GOOD WORK, YOUNG HAWK, the oak tree outside his building booms once the season’s over, and Patrick smiles sleepily in its direction. He's never been sure how the trees of Chicago know about hockey—trees hear a lot, but it's not like he's ever stopped in a public park to ask one about it.

This made me ridiculously ridiculously happy. rhea314's performance is brilliant and the story is sweet and very funny. I laughed out loud in public a bunch of times while listening, so fair warning.

2. Pastimes and Lifestyles by netgirl_y2k and read by sophinisba
approximately 01:43:00 no music, 01:47:00 with music
Merlin, Gwen/Morgana

Summary: "When Merlin never comes to Camelot the Great Dragon recruits Morgana to act as Arthur's protector. Now Morgana's got a magic sword, dreams that come true and a girlfriend who - if you believe the Dragon - is destined to marry her foster brother." (A Morgana-centric AU of season 1.)

sophinisba sounds like she's having so much fun performing this hilarious story. A++ would listen again.

So a few more recs then.

Worlds of Smoke and Song by Jesperanda. 7:44. Doctor Who.

Summary: That Christmas, after the Sycorax and the snow, she’d pestered him for flying lessons. Rose goes on alone. A recording of "Worlds of Smoke and Song," written by Doyle.

Rec: I just really enjoyed the performance. And I like Rose. :)

[Podfic] The Queen In Exile by dodificus. 7:08. Chronicles of Narnia.

Summary: It has been five years since she was told she couldn't go back.

Rec: This is so beautiful, and so powerful that I don't really know what to say. (The author chose not to warn tag is worth noticing though.)
